Cynthia began her lengthy career in the industry by making the move from New York to pursue a career as a fashion model. In a short time Cynthia was signed to a five-year agreement with Wihelmina Models. It led to a hugely profitable book as well as a the cover of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's cover for Essence was not just one of their most successful covers, but was Susan Taylor's favourite. Cynthia was soon to book her second cover. This started her career off in the right direction. Her next move was to Paris and Milan, where she was seen strutting down the runways of Paris and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia spent almost a whole year living abroad. Once she came back to the United States, her fame exploded. She was hired to work on advertisements for Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Vogue's, Glamour's, Elle's, Essence's and Vanity Fair magazine editorials soon came in. Cynthia was picked as the preferred choice by Naomi Campbell over Naomi Campbell to co-star opposite Sandra Bernhadt for the film, "Without You, I'm nothing."
